Patrick Long – Le Mans race report

Patrick Long, driving the #76 IMSA Performance MATMUT Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, ran in the lead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the top three for the bulk of this year’s race, but ultimately retired with gearbox trouble in hour 21.

Porsches, Motorcycles, Stock Cars and Tanks

For those of you whose racing interests lie beyond the world of sportscars and Formula One, keep an eye out for Patrick in a couple of one-off stock car races he’s entered in for 2009. He’s driving in the ASA and the Camping World East and West Series on a few scattered “off” weekends, in an effort to gain more diverse racing experience. He’s on the record as stating that he wants to mature into a driver in the mold of Mario Andretti, AJ Foyt, Mark Donohue and Dan Gurney, who were legendarily fast in anything. He’s fully committed to his career with Porsche, and has a multi-year contract to continue racing for one of the world’s best brands.

Flying Lizard No. 45 Wins GT2 at Long Beach, Second Win in a Row; No. 44 Finishes Fifth

he Flying Lizard No. 45 Porsche had their second consecutive win of the season today at Long Beach, running nearly 30 seconds ahead of the second place GT2 finisher, the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari, before the race-ending caution came out. The No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche finished fifth, having battled through the field from a tenth-place starting position.
