Patrick Long impressed by finishing 4th and 11th – second best of the 18 “international” drivers – at the Australian V8 Supercars Armor All Gold Coast 600 this weekend, at Surfer’s Paradise, Queensland. Long and teammate Michael Caruso, driving the #34 Garry Rogers Motorsport Commodore together, had a strong and competitive weekend, leading race one from championship regular and eventual winner Garth Tander.
Patrick Long will race at Surfer’s Paradise in Australia this weekend in the Aussie V8 Supercars Armor All Gold Coast 600, teamed with Michael Caruso in the #34 Garry Rogers Motorsport Holden Commodore. Long set the 4th-quickest time in testing among the “international” drivers, all 18 of whom are paired with a series regular for the twin races on Saturday and Sunday.
Patrick Long claimed his second consecutive and third career ALMS GT Driver’s Championship yesterday with his 5th place finish at Petit Le Mans. Long and teammate Jörg Bergmeister took four victories in 2010, the most of any team in the ultra-competitive GT class.
Patrick Long heads to Road Atlanta next week, to race in the endurace classic Petit Le Mans on Saturday, Oct. 2, holding a 22-point championship lead. Joining Long and his teammate Jörg Bergmeister will be Porsche factory driver Marc Lieb of Germany, himself a winner at Petit Le Mans. Flying Lizard Motorsport and Porsche each hold a single-point lead in the team and manufacturer’s championships, so it’s all still to play for in Georgia.

Patrick Long claimed his fourth victory of 2010 at the American Le Mans Series Grand Prix of Mosport today, extending his championship lead in the GT class to 22 points with only 30 points on offer in the season finale at the Petit Le Mans in September. Long and teammate Jörg Bergmeister avoided many on-track incidents and bested their competition, putting further distance between themselves and the championship-hopeful #90 BMW and #62 Ferrari.
