Patrick Long, Khaled Al Qubaisi and David Heinemeier Hansson drove the #88 Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR to 5th place in the GTE-AM class in the FIA WEC’s annual visit to the legendary Fuji circuit in Japan Sunday. With two races left to run, at Shanghai and Bahrain, Heinemeier Hansson and Al Qubaisi sit third in the driver’s championship rankings, with Long presently in fourth due to his missing the COTA round due to a schedule conflict.
After a tough race, Patrick remarked, “The beginning of the race was really difficult for us. We experienced a minor problem and as a result we lost touch to the top guys. Then we fell further back after touching another competitor. Afterwards it was simply a matter of getting over the line.”
The FIA WEC next visits Shanghai on November 4-6.
