Broken Shift Linkage Spoils the Fun at Indy

July 26, 2013

In an advantageous position in the GT class with just 20 minutes to go, Park Place Motorsport lost a shift linkage, dropping them back to an eventual 11th place finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday. Providing some solace, however, was the fact that Patrick Long set the fastest lap of the race in the GT class, at an average speed of 102.663 mph.

Long’s teammate Patrick Lindsey said, ““I can’t be prouder of the Park Place guys and the way they executed today,” reviewed Lindsey. “Everything clicked and went our way until 20 minutes to go. Pat [Long] experienced a shift linkage failure and we had to give up the race and park it. I’m definitely disappointed, but deeply grateful of the effort and sacrifice of this crew and extremely blessed to be in this position.”
