Alex Job Racing/Emory Motorsports on Pole at Homestead

Homestead, Florida — Alex Job Racing/Emory Motorsports secured there second pole position in a row in the Grand American Rolex Series presented by Crown Royal Reserve at Homestead Miami Speedway today. Mike Rockenfeller drove the number 23/Alex Job Racing/10th and M Seafoods/Porsche/Crawford to pole position by three tenths over his closest pursuer.

Rockenfeller posted a time of 1:13.960 with an average speed of 112 mph to secure the position at the head of the field. The pole is the team’s second in as many attempts, taking their first at the 24 Hours at Daytona in January. The team missed round two in Mexico City, but has returned to their front running form which showed at Daytona in qualifying as well as in the race.

"I had trouble getting a clear lap early in the qualifying session, but was able to break through towards the end," said Rockenfeller. "The car is really good; we focused on doing long runs in practice so we have as good a car at the end as we will at the beginning of the race. It is very close at the front of the field, the pace of the race should be somewhere in the mid-15s. I anticipate a lot of yellows, if practice is any indication. We have two poles with this car; we need to get it to victory lane."

Teammate Patrick Long is also focused on the win. "We are batting 1000 in qualifying. Mike’s lap was exceptional. We spent a lot of the practice session on old tires getting a comfortable setup. Tire management will be a key to the race; this track seems to be pretty hard on the rubber. We need some results so we can keep this great team racing this awesome car."

"Two poles in as many tries is a nice streak," said Alex Job, team owner. "Mike did a great job to put the car on pole. This solidifies our performance at Daytona, which some thought was a fluke. The changing weather conditions, it being cooler at night is something that we have tried to take into account with our race setup. We missed round two of the series and we had 10th and M Seafood really save us for this race, so it is nice to reward them with a front row starting position."

Carrying the momentum from the 24 Hours at Daytona, where the team managed to lead 105 laps, record fastest race lap and sit on the pole, the Florida based Daytona Prototype runners hope to improve three places from their twice around the clock finish. The team will have Porsche factory drivers Patrick Long and Mike Rockenfeller behind the wheel as they head back to the 2.3-mile modified oval course just south of Miami.
